Testing Center Upgrade
Upgrade Carver 250 from a standard computer lab to meet the needs of an ELO testing center.
The ELO Testing Centers administered nearly 100,000 exams and quizzes for about 10,000 unique students during fall 2016. Demand for services continue to grow and expectations for seat availability and a positive testing environment are top of mind for students across campus.
The Carver 250 computer lab has been converted into a full time testing center location to help support the continued growth. While the layout of the room was manageable when the room was used only for finals, the room does not meet the needs of students using the facility for computer based testing. FPM has designed a floor plan to maximize the testing center space and allow for optimal proctoring (see attached floor plan and cost estimate). Most importantly, the testing environment would be greatly enhanced with the physical space improvements.
The remodeling is scheduled to be completed during summer 2017 to be ready for fall semester. ELO has requested and received funds from LASCAC to upgrade the VDI workstations in that space. This project request would fund the expense of up to $45,200 for the furniture that would better match the needs of the students and the VDI workstations.
